This 2019 edition from artist Dave White exemplifies the reverence and caution with which the Tiger is viewed. Pictured as if by a silent observer, the graceful giant pads towards an unknown destination, its big paws and contentedly curved tail seem a million miles from the vast teeth on show above.
White’s inimitable skill in depicting animals comes from an ability to convey animals how they would behave away from human eyes, it’s not putting on a show, and its open mouth could be anything from a lazy yawn, to a roar. We couldn’t think of a better companion to have on our walls, at once majestic and domestic, White has captured so clearly the reason we have all fallen in love with this king of the jungle, the Tiger.
