Chris Sleath (a.k.a Dynamo Works) grew up in a commune far from London. When not bunking off from school he learned how to bake loaves, grow vegetables, brew beer, makes ‘ends’ and paint things different colours.
After a spell at college where he studied exhibition design he discovered that people were prepared to pay him money to paint things different colours, then he could ‘make ends meet’.
After many years working as a scenic painter and carpenter he stumbled into the world of wood type and letterpress printing via Incline Press.
“Letterpress printing is the happy marriage of wood, paper, ink and machine. The tactile nature of the process is an immersive and highly rewarding experience. It feels like all the roads have finally converged”.
