Alan Thornton lives and works in Spitalfields, East London and has been taking photographs for over 40 years. His journey into screen printing really started in his teens when he first took an interest in photography and threw himself into the darkroom where he embraced the opportunity to physically manipulate and enhance prints. As a very early adopter of digital capture and manipulation, those traditional darkroom influences were given infinite freedom.
More recently, having tired of the ease and endless possibilities of digital capture, manipulation and printing, Alan had his epiphany moment and discovered that all those years spent in the darkroom, in post-production and capturing images could be combined to bring his work to life through the medium of screen printing – a perfect marriage of all those skills.
