Ever since we opened in 2006, Typographic prints have been an essential part of our collection. Words are an indisputable a part of street art’s history, from graffiti and train writing to Eine’s iconic letterform, and we take great pride in displaying that legacy all over Nelly Duff’s walls.
If only we had enough room to display them all…
The Weird and Wonderful Words of Nelly Duff's Process
While many of our typographic prints find their roots in street art and paste ups, such as Mobstr and Gary Stranger, some find theirs in the traditional and beautiful art of letterpress. New North Press and Anthony Burrill are wonderful examples of artists reviving traditional methods with witty and contemporary style.
Screen printer and advertising ‘Mad Man’ Dave Buonaguidi understands the power of the written word more than most, and his printed type over vintage maps and love letters are simultaneously visually appealing and delightfully anecdotal.
Most importantly, all these amazing prints remind us that while sticks and stones will break our bones, words (or typographic prints) will never hurt us.
